                  Maynooth Town Football Club Guidelines

New players:
New players coming into the club will automatically go to the second team. (where there are 2 panels) Where numbers become uneven at any age group, players should be selected to join the team that is shortest in numbers. This process should be carried out by agreement of the teams’ mentors. Where agreement can not be reached the committee will appoint selectors to complete the grading. 

Grievance procedure:
The club has a procedure for dealing with any grievance however they should arise. All such matters should be detailed in writing to the secretary. The committee or their representatives shall investigate such grievances in full and their decision in all matters will be final.

Child Welfare Officer:
The club also has a child welfare officer who can be contacted in person should the need arise.

Players:
Play for enjoyment, not just to please your parents or coach.
Play by the laws of the game.Always accept the referee’s decision.
Play with control. Do not loose your temper.
Play for yourself and your team – your team’s performance will benefit and so will your own.
Be a good sport. Applaud all good play.
Respect your opponent. Treat all players, as you would like to be treated.
Co-operate with your coach and other players. Remember that the goals of the game to have fun, improve your skills, and feel good.
At the final whistle shake hands and thank your opponent.
Win with humility – loose with dignity.

Parents:
Remember, young people are involved in soccer for their enjoyment, not yours.
Encourage your child always to play by the laws of the game.
Teach your children that honest endeavor is as important as winning, so that the result is accepted without disappointment.
Help young children to work towards skill improvement and good sportsmanship.
Set a good example by applauding good play on both sides.
Never ridicule, humiliate or shout at young players for making a mistake or losing a match.
Do not place emphasis on winning at all costs.
Do not force an unwilling child to participate in playing soccer.
Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from soccer.
As a spectator, do not use profane language or harass referees, coaches or players. They give of their time free to provide recreational activities for young people.
Encourage in your child an appreciation of mutual respect for teammates and opponents.

Managers:
Manage by example, on and off the field, in both football and moral standards
Develop to the best of your ability your skills and football knowledge in order to pass this onto your team.
Work in the best interest of the development of players
Put the interests of the club first in all matters.
Work to ensure that your team performs to the best of its ability.
Support positively all activities arranged or promoted by the club.
Keep the club informed on all matters relating to your team, players, finance etc.
Attend all Team Managers meetings.
Be committed to the standards and traditions of Maynooth Town FC
Promote at all times the good image and traditions of the club.
Assist and help other teams in the interest of the club.
